AAIB report on Ahmedabad plane crash (Social media)
National News: Today marks one month since the crash of Air India flight AI171. In this terrible accident, 260 people lost their lives. Now, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has released its first report, which points to a technical problem as the possible cause of the crash.
One of the victims was Maithali Patil, a crew member on the flight. Her mother, Pramila Patil, shared her emotional reaction after reading the report. She said, “We live in a village and don’t have much information. But I still believe that Air India would never act carelessly. They took very good care of my daughter for the last two years. I also trust the government to handle this case properly.”
According to the 15-page report by AAIB, the main cause of the crash was that the fuel control switch was turned off. However, it is still not clear how or why this switch was turned off. Just seconds after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, the plane lost control and crashed into the BJ Medical College mess building, turning into a fireball.
The crash killed 229 passengers, 12 crew members, and 19 people who were inside the building. This is believed to be India’s worst air tragedy in the last 10 years. Many of the passengers were foreign nationals, and now several international voices are calling for a deeper investigation.
After the report was released, many people started questioning Air India’s safety standards. But at the same time, some people like Pramila Patil still support the airline, remembering the care and respect their loved ones received while working there.
This is not just an investigation about machines and systems. It’s about the loss of human lives. Every report and every personal story either brings back the pain or helps bring a little healing. Now, everyone is waiting for the final report to know the full truth and to see if anyone is held responsible.
